What does crossbite of front teeth mean ?
The shown interposition of the upper and lower teeth is conditioned by retroinclined crowns of the upper front teeth inwards. Such a situation results that the lower jaw is in the protruded position when biting.
What is affected by crossbite and forced bite?
When the jaw is in the protruded position driven by some forced contact, this is called the crossbite of the incisors and so-called forced bite. Certainly such a situation compromises the crowns of the teeth (which are irregularly worn due to the chewing function), damages the jaw joint and greatly affects the aesthetics of the face.
With orthodontic treatment, it is possible to correct this kind of bite by wearing fixed appliances.
